The connection between food, achieving your goals and living your purpose

Here’s a question for you. Does what you eat have anything to do with your ultimate goal of living an inspired life of meaning and purpose?

You can probably guess what my answer will be. It’s an emphatic YES. And it’s also maybe, maybe not. (Because it’s always what you do with it!) But stick with me.

I believe nutrition has great power. And this blog is all about connecting the dots between what we eat, how we live, how we are inspired and how we live into our purpose. In my humble opinion, based on my own experience, and those of my clients, it absolutely helps to begin with food. I’m not saying people who eat unhealthy diets can’t live lives of purpose and meaning. I just don’t think anyone can deny that having more energy, feeling great and being well might give you a major leg up and likely clear some major obstacles out of the way, like fatigue, illness or disease.

I’m not trying to over-simplify this, but as I was thinking about this the other day, this visual emerged in my mind.

So I’m just going to break it down here, in this simple way, to help make the connections.

Nourishing Food- As you make changes in your diet and increase your intake of fruit, veggies and other whole foods, you discover which foods fuel you and which ones actually drain you. You begin eating more of the foods that make you feel great and less of those that don’t. You gain more energy.

Energy- More energy leads to more movement and more movement continues to energize you. (I love how that works!) The desire to walk, run, yoga, dance or whatever you choose to do for exercise, increases and it all becomes easier. After ramping up the physical activity for a couple of weeks and eating right, you begin to have more mental clarity and feel inspired.

Mental Clarity/Inspiration- With more mental clarity and inspiration, you begin to accomplish more in your daily life.

More Productive- When you accomplish more in your daily life, you make progress toward and eventually accomplish your goals.

Accomplish goals- When you accomplish goals, your outlook on your life changes. You feel better about yourself. You feel great about the changes you are making and about your life. When you feel good about your life, you gain confidence and a sense of purpose.

Confidence/Purpose- When you have confidence and a sense of purpose you feel freer to move forward pursuing the dreams and unique calling you have on your life.

Dreams- Once you begin to pursue your dreams, passions and purpose, new possibilities open up and life gets bigger and more fulfilling.

See why I’m so passionate about healthy eating?

Personally, I would never be where I am today, if I hadn’t started with food. Where I was, fatigued, overwhelmed and stressed, was not really allowing me to serve with the best of my capabilities. I’m not going to lie. I still get tired, overwhelmed and stressed at times, but I don’t live there anymore. And I didn’t solve these issues with any special retreats, a vacation or even more sleep. I solved them initially, with food. And then moved on from there.

I urge you to give this theory a try! I would love to know where you are on the spectrum above. If you need help or ideas, please do not hesitate to reach out via email or comment below.
