I’ve just celebrated another milestone birthday. As is common for many people hitting a milestone number sooner than ever expected, I’ve spent quite a bit of time reflecting on the insanely rapid passage of time. How did I get here so fast? Seriously, what’s happening? I’m truly stunned! Stunned!
We can’t stop the march of time, but we can make the most of it, by prioritizing our own health. Physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. It all matters.
Prioritizing our health allows us to run hard after our purpose and to serve the people that need us in this world, no matter how much time has already marched past us!
I’m incredibly grateful for my health and the opportunity I have everyday to grow in knowledge of how the body works, and how the foods we eat and lifestyle habits we choose either support our health or undermine it. And that no matter how our genes are stacked for us or against us, science is proving that we have more control than we ever knew over whether or not these genes get turned on or off as we age. This is seriously empowering and means more to me with each passing year!
We create our destiny daily, with our diet and lifestyle choices. We can slow the aging of our cells, prevent disease and enjoy a higher quality of life for much longer than ever before. But the time for creating habits for lasting health and overall well-being is now. It’s never too early or too late to start making the choices that will best serve you for the rest of your life.
As I enter a new decade, I remain committed to my mission! To contribute to the health and vibrancy of women as we all age healthfully, purposefully and beautifully together, making the impact on the world that only we can have. I want to empower women to view the approaching years as an opportunity (not a slow decline!), and to have the tools needed to make the daily choices that support health.
Aging healthfully and purposefully gives us the opportunity to become happier, healthier, wiser, and more confidently and authentically ourselves. It also comes with more freedom to pursue our dreams. This is a win-win situation! So, let’s embrace it and create the habits that will forever promote vitality, energy, health and optimism for the years ahead. After all, the grace of aging comes from knowing how to care for ourselves in a way that leaves us feeling vibrant and alive. To make the choices that set us up for health as we age, rather than settling for nagging symptoms and feeling “old”.
There’s a lot of “anti-aging” buzz out there, because we live in a culture that glorifies youth and fears aging. And I’m all about trying to look and feel as youthful as possible, for as long as I can. But I don’t believe we need to be “anti” aging, because I don’t believe aging needs to be feared or dreaded when we take responsibility for our health and make the choices that set us up for vitality.
I look forward to the future years of my life and the growth, unique opportunities and rewarding experiences they will bring. I believe the next phase of my life will be every bit as amazing as the years that have come before, and I intend to live everyday making the choices that, God willing, will allow me to sustain that vision.
